I’ve shown this to a few golf professionals and they all say, “Woah!” A golf technician took a look at one of the irons and called over the other golf store employees and a tournament winner to look at it. Everybody was impressed by the design and craft that went into them.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THESE CLUBS?
Designed by Japan’s beloved golfer, Jumbo Ozaki, these are a set of irons known as the “Tournament Model for the Professionals.”
Who is Jumbo? Japanese golf legend Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki was only the most successful player of all time on the Japan Golf Tour who won 94 tournaments in Japan, (43 more than the second highest player), reached No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking in 1996, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011. He started as a professional baseball pitcher before switching to golf. He even had success as a pop singer! Jumbo recently died at the age of 78 on December 23, 2025, after a battle with colon cancer [do not let this happen to you! Go get checked!].
What is MTN III? MTN stands for the initials of the three Ozaki brothers: Masashi (aka “Jumbo),Tateo (aka "Jet" ), and Naomichi (aka "Joe"), all professional golfers.
Forged by Endō? Endo is one of the best (or at least well-known) forging foundries in Japan. They now forge their own in-house brand (Epon) and have acted as the "forging vendor" for a number of Japan and US-market companies.

HOW THE CLUBS WERE DESIGNED
Jumbo used one of three different types of irons made outside Japan depending upon the conditions he was golfing under and his own personal condition. Endo had opportunities to discuss the good and bad points of each of these irons with Jumbo after every golf match. Staff sent from Endo would mull over each and every word the Jumbo uttered during these discussions. The prototypes Endo so enthusiastically produced based on these discussions would routinely be dismissed by Jumbo with a single word: “No.”
The JUMBO MTN III was developed based on Ben Hogan's personal model, which Jumbo had previously used. At the time, Scotch-type (square-faced) clubs were mainstream, but Jumbo apparently preferred the round-faced, conventional style. However, he was dissatisfied with the thinness of the top blade and sole, and the small size of the PW/SW.
Furthermore, Jumbo preferred Spalding for his long irons, and he liked McGregor's treatment for making the face appear larger. Jumbo wanted a thick, heavy top blade because he felt it gave him a stronger, more powerful feel. The club has two seemingly contradictory characteristics: a lie angle that makes the ball go to the right and a neck that makes it go to the left. These two characteristics cancel each other out, resulting in a balanced club overall.
As it was difficult to transform what Jumbo was saying into the design of a golf clubhead, Endo had no choice but to press on without having any idea when they might reach their goal. But as Jumbo shared more details with the R&D staff, they gradually began to find a way to create the kind of irons he wanted, and eventually they were able to create prototypes that were to his satisfaction. This became the Bridgestone MTNIII that was first put on the market in 1986, becoming an immediate hit and building the Endo’s name in the world of golf.
The model developed while taking these requests into account is a set that combines the best features while ignoring the flow of the original shape, and the MTN III model is a model born from actual gameplay rather than from the ideas of a technical expert.
