This here is Opie and we have had him for over 3 years. Opie is a thoroughbred we purchased from a racing barn with no other prior experience aside from racing. He is a mellow boy who loves treats. No buck or bolt. Will stand tied and stands for the farrier. He was ridden by my husband for trail rides and all around shows. He has done a variety of show classes, cow events and speed events. We did have to spend time on ground manners and softening up in the mouth while riding. He does need someone who is firm to maintain that training, otherwise he reverts back to bad habits. I have his jockey papers on hand.
please read all the way through Opie had surgery on his knee for chips when he was at the racing barn about a year before we purchased him. This knee will get mildly inflamed when he is ridden hard only. As long as he is given previcox before long road trips or all day trails/shows then he does great. I have x-rays on hand.
