As the rumor goes, the mountain used to hold court.

Once a year, when the aspens turned, everything living on Timpanogos came down to one clearing to settle the year's business. The old king arrived in red and gold with a beard like snowmelt. A knight stood at his shoulder and never once sat down. The fairies took the sunny side, the elves took the shade, an owl kept the minutes, and a cat attended, contributed nothing, and left early.

Then people came up the canyon and built a ski resort, and the court moved higher, and the clearing sat there for a hundred years waiting for somebody to notice what it was built for.

It's a half acre. Wooded, private, tucked in just above the Sundance Mountain Resort that Robert Redford built. And it still leans.

Put a double basement into that slope and every floor gets Timpooneke instead of just the top one. Exactly the way the court drew it up.
