This is an antique, copper coal or ash shuttle used for indoor fire places. That was its intended purpose when they were made centuries ago. It is in terrific condition and although I don't use it as a coal or ash shuttle, it holds umbrellas and walking canes as well as you can see. Size is 22 inches tall. The walking canes (8 of them) are part of this listing. A word about the plate shown in photo 7 that reads "5KAN". This item was made in the Netherlands around 1800 and before the Dutch adopted the metric system as units of measurements. Prior to that time, various symbols and other designators were used to denote a particular measurement. The "KAN" denotes liquid measurements and the "5" denotes how much. 1KAN is roughly equal to 1 liter of liquid; thus, 5KAN is roughly equal to 5 liters--1 liter is a bit more than 1 quart. This item is an antique, and with the historical information as above, would be quite valuable on the market. We're downsizing and I need to let this piece go. The 8 walking canes are included. $60 and it's yours.
