“I come out of my kennel at about 100 miles an hour… but give me a minute and you’ll meet the sweetest boy underneath all that excitement!”
Hi, I’m Otis!
I’m a young Lab/Pit mix, estimated to be around 1 year old, and I’m already neutered. I came into the shelter with my little buddy Ruger, and it’s pretty obvious that the two of us know each other well.
The shelter is still getting to know me, but one thing became clear pretty quickly:
I LOVE PEOPLE.
I absolutely soak up human affection. Once I settle down, I’m an incredibly sweet boy who just wants to be close to you and get all the love you’re willing to give.
Now, about that “settle down” part…
When that kennel door first opens, I am HIGH ENERGY! I’m young, excited, and ready to GO. I definitely need to learn some manners, but don’t let those first few crazy minutes fool you. Once I’ve had a chance to get some energy out, I settle down really nicely.
And did I mention I’m very smart?
With some consistency, training, exercise, and someone willing to teach me what’s expected, I have so much potential. I’d love an active family who will take me for walks and adventures, work on training with me, and then let me curl up nearby for some affection when the fun is over.
I’m comfortable with Ruger, and the shelter will be dog testing me with other dogs this week to learn more about how I interact with new canine friends. However, from what my shelter friends have seen, I may not be the best fit for a home with cats.
Like Ruger, I’ll also need a secure yard to help keep me safely at home. And because I’m young, strong, energetic, and still working on manners, older or dog-savvy kids may be the best fit for me.
I’m not a perfectly polished dog yet.
I’m a young dog who needs someone willing to teach me—and I’m smart enough to learn.
Underneath all that youthful enthusiasm is one incredibly sweet boy who loves people and would really like to belong to somebody.
Maybe that somebody is you?
