ZelleSuper rare Trek Madone 5.9 Project One with the even rarer Discovery Team SSLx Tour de France colorway.
The SSLx is a bit of a unicorn. $10,000 bike--new and only a handful ever made. The frames were uber-expensive (with boron and kevlar as well as carbon fiber) and incredibly light--and this blue flame colorway is the only version that it was available in.
In subsequent years you could custom order other Trek higher-end models with this colorway through their Project One / Race Shop Limited program. I believe this is one of those bikes... not an original / team SSL or SSLx... but an SL 5.9 with the SSLx colorway.
A stock Madone 5.9 retailed for around $5000. Add the custom Project One / Race Shop Limited paint job and the $200 Dura Ace pedals and you are looking at about $6000 out the door.
Like all 5.9 (or higher) Trek models, this bike is full Dura Ace--the most expensive (and lightest) Shimano components you can buy for a road bike. The seatpost and drop bar are also Trek's highest spec level--full carbon Race-XXX-Lite. So this bike is very, very lightweight--which makes it an amazing climber.
The only thing not race-level spec on this bike is the wheelset... which is a more training-friendly Bontrager Race in the front and Race Lite in the back--wrapped with newer Specialized Armadillo (flat resistant) tires. (Race-X-Lite wheels would have been original spec on this model--and those are very light, very nice wheels when new... but those rims are so thin-walled (to shave weight) that they are notorious for cracking around the nipples... so they usually end up being replaced after a few years.)
However, if you prefer racing level wheels, I have some nice, light, carbon fiber wheels that I would make you a good deal on if you prefer those--or want both.
The frame size is 56cm--which is ideal for riders around 5'9 and up to about 6'1--with the sweet spot being somewhere in the middle. And as shown in the pics, there is plenty of room left on the steer tube for perfect fitting.
Bars just re-wrapped by Contender in SupaCaz "oil slick" bar tape... which really complinents the crows-wing (black / blue / green / purple) / metallic fade of the original Project One paint job on the frame and fork.
This bike looks showroom new and has never been crashed or damaged in any way. There's barely a scratch on it anywhere and everything functions as new. VERY low mileage bike--and it shows. Needs absolutely nothing. Ready to click in and ride today.
What you see in the pics is what you get. Reply with any questions or to set up a time to check out the bike in person. I'm in the 9th and 9th area.
