Perhaps I bit off more than I can chew. I got this really nice Aria M-300 and it needed a lot of cleaning as well as lowering the bridge significantly. Installed new light gauge strings. I'm sure if you go to med strings the sound on the top end will be more mellow.
I lowered the bridge and with modification the bridge could go lower but at my age it's not a job I want to undertake - I think you would need to seat the bridge by shortening the bridge legs
This Mandolin in VG condition has a wonderful "old-timey" sound and is in playable condition.
This is a very nice 1970s Aria M-300 "Two Point" Style solid Spruce top Mandolin manufactured in Japan. Superb build quality and premium cosmetic features, including a faux Tortoise shell-faced headstock veneer with Mother of Pearl inlays. Top wood is solid spruce and the back and sides are rosewood (not sure if it's laminate or solidThere is a cream binding front and back with some slight damage on one of the points.
It has a compensating adjustable floating bridge and a Rosewood fingerboard. There is some slight fret wear as one would expect but there is plenty of life left in them.
It is presented for sale in truly very good condition for the year, as hopefully our photographs illustrate. The playing action is also excellent and the tone and ring are everything that you would expect from a premium-quality instrument.Sold with a high-quality period-correct hard shell case.
