GooglePay“Tadpole” is a 2019 AQHA sorrel mare who stands 15hh. She is the kind of mare every horseman appreciates—smart, gritty, and full of try. She’s light in the mouth, responsive in the body, and athletic enough to get any job done, whether you’re working on the ranch or heading to the arena.
First and foremost, Tadpole is a finished ranch horse. Growing up on the Pitchfork Ranch in Wyoming made her sure footed outside and gave her exposure to wildlife at a young age. She’s been used extensively at head and heel brandings, sorted pairs, and doctored cattle—both one-man and two-man. She’s spent plenty of long days trailing cows and takes on new jobs like a champ while handling the old ones like a seasoned pro, even after time off. Roping is almost too easy with her, you just drop your hand and let her track. She’s the horse I keep sharp shod through the winter and confidently put new riders on, knowing she’s safe, steady, and will never make the wrong move.
Tadpole is also a jam-up arena horse and a strong cutting or cow horse prospect. She’s got a solid foundation in both reining and cutting, with the athletic ability and cow sense to excel in either. Tadpole has been hauled around to local shows in Montana and always stays cool, calm, and collected. She’s naturally cowy, has a smooth turnaround, lead changes, and a correct stop. Training has always come easy for her—she’s eager to please and willing to learn—making her an ideal candidate to go on as a cow horse, cutter, or rodeo prospect.
Even though Tadpole is beginner tested and approved, I recommend that she goes to an intermediate+ level rider. Her eager to please attitude and quick footedness can quickly turn into learned bad habits in the wrong hands, so if you are a beginner and you want to grow with Tadpole I would recommend taking regular lessons with a professional trainer. She has taught me so much and allowed me to grow with her, so I would love for her to be able to give the same to her next home.
She is hip #3 at the Wyo Ranch Horse Sale May 31st in Meeteetse WY. I always encourage everyone to come try before they buy at the sale, so please contact me at (323)533-5789 with any other questions or for more detail. Video: https://youtu.be/ATotBsQVSQE?si=TU_2OYODQDwfjfNc
