The 1922 Simplex "The New Way" Fabric Measuring Machine with attached Table Stand Brackets is an antique, original sewing accessory from the pre-1930s era in the United States and was primarily used in fabric stores. This vintage measuring tool is designed to measure fabric quantity while pulling the fabric through the machine. It is a rare and unique piece that adds a touch of nostalgia and authenticity to any sewing workspace or for collectors.
Some paint is rubbed off, but they look to be in great condition. The base plate reads, "Simplex Computing Measure Co Metal Works Division of the Grand Rapids Store Equipment Corporation, Grand Rapids Michigan, USA Patented October 5 1909 and June 20 1922, with other patents pending. The serial numbers are 6987 and 8738. They are made in the USA by the Simplex Computing Measure Co., which later became part of the MeasureGraph Company. The cases are enameled cast iron with glass fronts and a meters that read yards and fractions of yards as the fabric is pulled through the slot on the front.
The three levers on the side are titled Start, Reset and Notch, and move freely. The glass windows are clear and uncracked. These are being sold as is, so please refer to the photos. Operation not tested.
