VenmoThe iris are starting to bloom! We have some great colors. Although not all of the iris are currently blooming, you can still see what they look like because I have a photo album with pictures of each variety.
Iris are a wonderful, hardy perennial that come back every year. Each year I order new colors from different iris farms and have them shipped to me, so each year, we have new, gorgeous colors to pick from. We have sold iris for ten years now from our backyard garden. When you choose which varieties you want, we dig the iris and put them in a box or in plastic bags. (If you have a box or bucket, feel free to bring them). It is best to plant your iris the same day you buy them.
Although we have close to 100 varieties, not all are available this year. Last fall, we transplanted many of our iris to make room for more varieties and the move set them back. The lack of secondary irrigation water has had an effect on them as well. Also, we had a hard freeze this spring that damaged many of the tender buds that had started to bloom, so some of the flowers will not look as well as they normally do.
