This is a classic love story. There's something missing from each of their lives, but together they complete one another.
Due to a hardware or firmware issue the Vizio can't access its own DTV tuner. Due to the lack of an onboard display the Samsungs' DTV tuner can't communicate with the outside world. But together they can both realize their potential.
The Samsung was sort of a big deal in the early 2000's, offering 1080i or 720p HDTV and digital audio output. But its lack of HDMI and size make it a dinosaur by modern standards. The Vizio doesn't care, though. It has the Component Video input jacks to consumate the relationship. It also offers an HDMI input, a VGA and purely analog inputs so you're not limited just to the Samsung as the video source.
The Vizio also developed a bit of an oddly shaped "shadow" on one part of the screen -- hard to see or fairly obvious depending on the type of scene being displayed. One of the pictures I took shows a blue screen so you can see the "shadows" more easily.
Obviously this is not meant to be a state-of-the-art video experience and the price reflects this.
There are more detailed technical specs below for those interested.
