I’m looking for the right forever home for my dog, Wilbert. This is not an easy decision, and I care deeply about finding someone who understands him and can give him the environment he’ll thrive in. I work full time, and I’ve realized he would do best in a home that can give him more time, attention, structure, and activity than I’m currently able to provide.

Wilbert is 3 years old (birthday April 23) and is neutered. He is primarily Yorkie and Poodle, with some Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, and Chihuahua mixed in as well. He’s very smart, energetic, affectionate with his people, and full of personality.

He loves being outside, staying busy, and going on hikes, and he would likely thrive in a home where he has room to explore and get regular activity.

Wilbert has had extensive professional training and has made a lot of progress, but he still needs an experienced owner who understands dog behavior and can provide ongoing discipline, structure, and consistency. He can be reactive toward other dogs and unfamiliar people, especially when overstimulated or uncomfortable, and he may respond defensively in those situations. Because of this, he needs someone confident handling dogs with behavioral challenges who is willing to continue working with him and setting him up for success.

He generally does better with female dogs. He does okay with children for shorter interactions, but I do not think a home with young children full-time would be the best fit for him.
