Long-Term Lease Preferred | Sale Considered to the Right Home
This is a very difficult post for me to write.
My mom and I will both be moving to continue our education and careers. She will be away completing her anesthesiology residency, and I will be continuing my bachelor’s degree and working toward medical school. Because of that, we are facing the reality that we will not have the time or resources our horses deserve over the next several years.
Our first choice would be to find long-term lease homes for them, ideally for around four years. I know that is not a typical arrangement, so I am also willing to consider a sale to the right home. These are our family horses, and I will be very careful about where they go.
Jett is a 16-year-old, 16.3hh BLM Mustang gelding from the Owyhee range.
Jett is my baby. He is the horse I have always pictured my future children riding one day.
He has taken care of me through everything and is one of the kindest and most forgiving horses I have ever known. He truly gives everything he has to his person.
Jett has competed in lower-level eventing and dressage, taught riding lessons, carried my younger sisters, explored trails, and swum in oceans, lakes, and rivers. He has gone on just about every kind of adventure I could have asked of him.
He is an easy keeper, very handsome, and a genuine babysitter type with the right rider and environment.
At this point in his life, I am not looking for someone who wants to compete heavily or push him. I would love to find him a home where he can enjoy trails, relaxed rides, attention, and a slower pace. He would be wonderful for a confident young rider, adult, or family who wants a safe and experienced horse to love and enjoy.
Although he is kind and dependable, I still want him with someone who is confident around horses and has knowledgeable support.
A long-term lease is my strong preference. I would want to stay in contact, receive regular updates, and potentially bring him home in the future if I am able to provide the retirement and care he deserves.
I may consider selling him, but only if the home and person feel completely right. I am not in a rush to place him.
Please message me with information about your riding experience, where he would be kept, and the kind of home and life you could offer him.
