Manufactured by THONET Contract Furniture in York, Pennsylvania, this rare vintage six-drawer dresser features beautiful walnut grain, clean minimalist lines, and exceptional commercial-grade craftsmanship. Built with a heavy duty plywood and engineered hardwood carcass, finished in a rich walnut veneer. This dresser was designed for strength, longevity, and everyday use rather than disposable furniture. The cabinet itself is incredibly heavy, a true testament to its quality construction. It also features one-piece molded plastic drawer tubs, an innovative commercial-grade design that is exceptionally durable, moisture-resistant, easy to clean, and designed not to warp like traditional wood drawers. This piece is truly built like a tank. It’s already stood the test of time for decades and is built to last for many more years. Rarely do you come across original THONET case furniture of this quality.
This dresser is in great vintage condition with normal signs of age. There are a few areas where the veneer chipped and were repaired by a previous owner (please see all photos and video), along with a few light scratches and cosmetic imperfections consistent with its age. None of these affect its structural integrity or functionality. The back also bears a vintage “PROPERTY NORTON FB” stamp, which may indicate it was once part of an institutional or government inventory ( possibly Norton Air Force Base ) adding an interesting piece of its history, although this has not been confirmed. It retains its original THONET Contract Furniture labels, making it an even more unique find.
