Yearling Gelbvieh Bull, working on his registration papers currently.
We purchased him in April, for his stellar calving ease, and docility traits in his lines.
He is super mellow, and has no desire to confrontation, easy to move on foot (more sensitive to pressure, but still easy to move). He’s a. Active breeder, he’s covered two for us already, and we’re excited for his genetics.
The problem for us, is he’s a range bull. We don’t have the infrastructure to keep him in. Leased property with 40 year old fence, and 15 years of patch work, isn’t super conducive to keeping a range bull. We’ve struggled to keep him contained on our small 3 acre bull pen. He likes to hangout where the neighbors corn, and alfalfa fields meet. Getting him back in has never been an issue. A little pressure in the right direction, and he goes back in the same way he got out.
Photos are from April, and he has filled out lots better since.
He’s not mean at all, he’s not nasty, he’s easy to be near, just can’t keep him in what we’ve got.
Would consider part trade for a super friendly little bull calf of similar genetic traits.
