For sale is a 2001 Toyota Corolla 1ZZ-FE engine being sold as a rebuildable core.

This engine was pulled from a salvage yard. I originally intended to rebuild it, but ultimately decided to rebuild my original engine instead. Before making that decision, I partially disassembled this engine to inspect its condition.

During inspection:

• Main and rod bearings showed normal wear with no obvious damage.

• Bearing journals and bearing saddles appeared to be in good condition.

• Based on what I observed, it appears to be a good rebuild candidate.

The engine has been loosely reassembled for storage and transport. Since it is not fully assembled, a prospective buyer can easily perform a more thorough inspection before purchasing if desired. I'd much rather someone inspect it and know exactly what they're buying than rely solely on my assessment.

The engine is not complete and should be considered a rebuild project:

• Oil pan is missing.

• Several exterior bolts and nuts were misplaced during disassembly.

• Internal hardware should be complete to the best of my knowledge.

• Includes various exterior sensors and miscellaneous engine parts.

Also included are several new replacement parts, though they do not make a complete rebuild kit. For example, there are only 3 sets of piston rings instead of 4. Completing the rebuild will require additional parts such as piston rings, rod bearings, valve stem seals, gaskets, and any other components you choose to replace during assembly.

I'm describing the engine as accurately as possible so there are no surprises. If you're looking for a 1ZZ-FE core that has already had an initial inspection and is easy to examine further before purchase, this is a solid starting point.
