Complete Studio Anne Carlton (SAC Ltd.) Alice in Wonderland 32-piece chess set, handmade in Hull, England and based on John Tenniel's original illustrations for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.

IMPORTANT: Not all SAC “hand-painted” Alice sets are the same. Many examples found online have a cream/ivory finish with color applied mainly as accents. This vintage example has the much more extensive full-color hand-painted treatment across both armies. The King's entire robe is blue, with individually painted crown, gold trim, hair, face, hands, staff and shoes. The same extensive coloration continues throughout.

The pieces retain their original red felt bases and are in excellent vintage condition.

Included: all 32 original pieces, original fitted velvet storage trays, original SAC Ltd. storage box marked Studio Anne Carlton – Hull, England, original Alice character/information sheet, original factory tag, and the surviving £199.99 original retail price sticker.
