VenmoClassic NAD 7130 stereo receiver in good working condition. This is from the era that established NAD's reputation for simple, no-nonsense components that delivered much more real-world performance than their modest power ratings suggested.
I've thoroughly cleaned and tested this receiver, and have spent time actually listening to it rather than simply verifying that it powers on. Everything is working well and it sounds excellent.
The 7130 is conservatively rated at around 30 watts per channel, but like many classic NAD amplifiers, it was designed with substantial dynamic headroom and the ability to handle difficult speaker loads. The rear panel even provides selectable settings for 8-ohm/high or 4-ohm/normal speaker loads. One of the particularly nice features is the built-in MM/MC phono preamp, so it can accommodate both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges without an external phono stage. One of the classic NAD features is Soft Clipping, a switchable protection circuit designed to make the amplifier behave more gracefully when pushed beyond its available power. Instead of abruptly clipping the waveform—which can produce harsh distortion and potentially damage tweeters—Soft Clipping gently limits the signal as the amplifier approaches its limits. This makes the 7130 surprisingly capable when driving speakers at higher levels.
Features • Approx. 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms • High-current NAD amplifier design • MM & MC phono inputs • Built-in AM/FM tuner with presets • Preamp outputs / Main amplifier inputs with original jumpers • Can be used as a standalone preamp or power amplifier • NAD Soft Clipping – helps reduce harsh clipping distortion and provides additional protection for speakers when the amplifier is pushed hard • switchable 4-ohm / 8-ohm impedance selector • Speaker A/B outputs • Bass and treble controls • Bass EQ • Loudness compensation • Dynamic Separation Defeat • Tape monitor • Headphone output • Binding-post speaker connections
Condition The receiver has been cleaned and fully tested and is operating properly. Controls and switches have been checked and I've listened to it extensively to verify operation. Cosmetically it presents nicely for its age, with normal minor signs of use. Please look closely at the photos for exact condition. This would be a great receiver for a vinyl-based 2-channel system, particularly if you want classic NAD sound and features without spending a fortune on vintage gear.
I work in South Salt Lake and live in Eagle Mountain, so I'm happy to meet somewhere in between. If you'd like to hear it before buying, you're also welcome to demo it at my house.
