Rivera Chubster 40, 40 Watt 1 x 12 Amplifier. This is a good size combo amp. It has two channels a clean (Fenderish) similar to a Deluxe sound that starts to breakup when pushed. And it seemed to takes pedals well. It has a master volume so you can do this at whatever volume you want. The distortion channel pushes into the territory of British sounds. It has a EL34s in the power amp section which lends itself to earlier breakup and a very creamy distortion. With the master volume and expanded eq you can find a tone and can play it at whatever volume you want. This amp can be very loud and it will definitely cut through a band mix. But you can also play it (with good tone) at bedroom levels too. It has a boost switch on the pedal, which is included. This is very usable for gigging. It can bump up the volume and gain a bit to help the solo cut through to mix. The eq of the amp has some nice variability to shape the sound.

Paul Rivera worked modding Fender amps for session players for a long time, giving these amps increased tonal range and flexibility to cover many different kinds of music. He later worked for Fender designing several very respected amp lines for the company, before going out on his own, creating his own amp company. The Rivera Chubster is a good all around amp that can cover a lot of different styles of music. It is plenty loud to compete in a band context.

It has some nice features with a master volume and eq. for each channel, allowing you to fine tune your clean and distorted sounds to your liking. It has old school, high quality spring reverb and an effects loop. This amp has an el34 power tube section and has super high quality Mullard tubes. It has a nice Celestion G12L 55 in it.

Good quality amp with top notch mil grade components and lots of tone variability. Excellent combo amp at an amazing price.
