VenmoThis extraordinary one-of-a-kind original artwork by Alisa Lariushkina (LiskaFlower) was personally commissioned by me directly from the artist, combining two things I especially love: ravens and the work of Vincent van Gogh.
The composition was specifically inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s 1887 painting The Courtesan (after Eisen). Lariushkina reimagined its distinctive composition—particularly the bold golden central panel surrounded by brilliant blue water, flowers and vegetation—by replacing the central figure with two black ravens.
The result is not a reproduction of the Van Gogh painting, but an entirely original commissioned work that brings together Van Gogh’s influence, the imagery I requested, and Lariushkina’s unmistakable three-dimensional technique.
This listing is for the actual original physical artwork I commissioned from Alisa Lariushkina—not a print, reproduction, or mass-produced decorative piece.
The Artwork
The piece is created entirely using Lariushkina’s remarkable dimensional technique with individually shaped pieces of air-dry clay.
Countless tiny curls, coils, waves, slivers, petals and feather-like forms are shaped and carefully arranged to construct the image. Rather than creating movement with painted brushstrokes, the artist creates it physically through the direction, shape and placement of the clay.
At the center are two beautifully rendered black ravens, each constructed from individually formed feather-like pieces that give the birds remarkable depth and texture. They are surrounded by an intricate golden field of swirling floral forms.
Around the central composition, intense blue water flows through hundreds of individually shaped clay elements, punctuated by delicate white water lilies and green lily pads. Tall green reeds and vivid touches of yellow, orange and red complete the surrounding landscape.
The connection to Van Gogh’s The Courtesan (after Eisen) is visible in the structure and visual rhythm of the composition, but Lariushkina transformed that inspiration into something completely new and personal.
From a distance, the work has the color, movement and composition of a painting. Up close, it becomes almost sculptural, revealing the extraordinary amount of individual handwork involved.
The dimensional quality simply cannot be fully captured in photographs. I have included close-up images so you can see the individually formed raven feathers, swirling water, flowers, foliage and intricate golden details.

The original gold-painted wooden frame beautifully complements the brilliant yellows, blues and greens of the artwork and is included with the piece.
Condition
Excellent pre-owned condition. The artwork itself is beautifully preserved.
I previously displayed the piece inside an additional outer frame, which has since been removed. There are a few very small remnants of paper on the reverse of the original wooden frame from that prior mounting. They are confined to the back, do not affect the artwork, and are not visible whatsoever when the piece is displayed. Please see the photographs of the back for its exact condition.

What makes this piece particularly meaningful is its history. It wasn’t selected from an existing collection of artwork; I commissioned it directly from Alisa Lariushkina specifically because of my love of ravens and Vincent van Gogh.
