Meet Alfred…or Alfie for short! This handsome 2-year-old, 35 lb Red Heeler/Lab mix is one of those dogs who makes you wonder how he ever ended up in a shelter. 🥺

Alfie came from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico and was pulled straight off the euthanasia list. He made it out just in time—and now this sweet boy is patiently waiting for the family he was saved for. ️

When Alfie first arrived, he was a little nervous and unsure. We don’t know everything he experienced before coming to us, but as he realized he was safe, the most loving, gentle boy started to emerge.

His fosters describe him as one of the easiest dogs they’ve ever had. 🥹 Give Alfie a yard to enjoy, some affection and people to love, and this boy is HAPPY.

And can we talk about his adorable little face?! One of Alfie’s lips gets caught on his tooth, giving him the cutest permanent silly expression—and we absolutely LOVE it.

He’s got a gorgeous shiny rust-red coat, a strawberry-blond belly and the perfect medium-sized build.

Alfie isn’t asking for much.

A yard. Some love. A safe place to sleep. And someone who will never make him wonder if he’s wanted again. 🥺️

After everything he’s been through, this boy is simply happy to be alive. Now we want to give him something even better—a forever family to spend the rest of that life with.
