This handsome 3-year-old Border Collie mix weighs around 30 pounds and is one of those special dogs who will absolutely steal your heart once he learns he’s safe.

Max has been through a lot and has been in foster care for quite some time. Because of his past, he can be very skittish and needs a patient family willing to give him the time and space he deserves. Loud noises can be especially scary for him, and when he feels overwhelmed, his favorite safe place is hiding under the bed. 🥺

But underneath that timid exterior is an incredibly sweet boy who loves being around his people. Max is wonderful with children and other pets, and he truly wants to be part of a family. ️

Max is still learning that the world can be a safe place. Walks are a work in progress, but he is willing to be outside and spend time with his family. He doesn’t need to be the perfect adventure dog—he just needs someone who will celebrate the little victories with him. 🥹

Since Max has been through so much, he is also still working on his potty skills. His future family will need to be patient and continue helping him learn. With consistency, encouragement, and a little time, we know he can keep making progress.

Max would do best with a calm, understanding family who will allow him to decompress and come out of his shell at his own pace. He may not be the dog who runs up to you on day one, but give him time, and you’ll get to see the sweet, gentle boy hiding underneath all that fear. 🤎
