Meet Gavin!

Born in April 2021, Gavin is a 12-pound Dachshund/Chihuahua mix with a huge personality packed into a small body. If you're looking for a dog with character, quirks, and plenty of entertainment, Gavin may be your guy.

Gavin is a clown at heart and always keeps his people laughing. His favorite possession in the entire world is his special ball, and you'll quickly learn that life revolves around keeping track of it! He loves to play, stay busy, and be involved in whatever is going on around him.

While Gavin is a fun little guy, he's not the type of dog who instantly loves everyone he meets. He struggles with anxiety and can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people. Because of this, he will need an adopter who is patient, understanding, and comfortable reading canine body language. Building trust with Gavin takes time, but earning that trust is incredibly rewarding.

Gavin would do best as the only pet and in a home without children. Other dogs simply aren't his thing, and he'd much rather be the center of your world. Interestingly, he tends to do well in an active household where there's enough activity to keep his mind occupied, but he still needs people who will respect his boundaries and allow him to settle in at his own pace.

His ideal adopter will understand that Gavin isn't a dog you'll be passing around for strangers to pet. Instead, he's looking for someone willing to invest the time to develop a meaningful bond with him.
