Urgent support for local rescues needed

One of the noblest industries often suffers from underfunding and overcrowding, with more animals in need of care than there are resources available. Shelters across Utah are in desperate need of donations for pets, and we need your help. 

The Humane Society of Utah is working tirelessly to care for over 11,000 dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets each year. But if adoptions, fosters or funding slow down, or people surrender their pets at a higher rate, that means crowded kennels and strained staff. 

By donating to the Humane Society of Utah, you’re providing food, medical care and safe shelters for vulnerable animals. And KSL will match your generosity, up to $8,000.

KSL’s commitment to Utah’s animal shelters

KSL’s donation match is part of our ongoing commitment to animal welfare in Utah. As a platform where pets are listed and found, we take that responsibility seriously. We are proud of our continued efforts to support ethical pet practices and local shelters. Through our partnership with the Humane Society of Utah, we’ve been honored to sponsor events such as its 65th birthday party and a free adoption day. 

But shelters also rely on people like you who also want to ensure pets eventually have a safe forever home. Your donations help animals like Iroh, who was a scared pupper at the shelter, but was happily rescued by a volunteer who saw his sweet personality and gave him a chance.

Keeping our platform safe for animals

Beyond this donation match, KSL has taken proactive steps to promote responsible pet adoptions on our platform. In the last few years we have integrated dog and cat listing fees to deter irresponsible or unethical breeders.

We also monitor pet listings and remove unethical breeders or others who violate our standards. Our integration with Petfinder pulls listings from shelters daily, giving shelter pets more visibility and the chance for adoption on KSL Classifieds. 

The reality is that these pets rely on the generosity and love of people in their community. If you or anyone you know has adopted a shelter pet, you know how special these animals are and how much they deserve a loving home.
